Why Writing?
I wanted to start with this first post simply to remind myself of the importance of writing and how much it has changed me since I started developing this skill.
When I talk about writing, I do not mean a specific format like screenwriting or creative writing. I am simply talking about that space you give yourself with a blank page and a pen, where you begin pouring out whatever is living inside your mind, things that otherwise remain nothing more than an ongoing conversation between you and yourself.
When you take what is moving around in your head and place it on paper, it feels like a kind of magical process. It is as if you are transforming something from one form of matter into another.
Like a scientist in a lab turning invisible air into something liquid or solid that suddenly sits right in front of your eyes.
Once you write down what is in your mind and place it in front of you, you can finally see it at its true size. Our minds are known for magnifying things, or for making us think about them without context. But the moment your thoughts are sitting there in front of you, you become capable of managing them. And that is really the first step for anyone who wants to take control of their thinking and become the one steering their own path.
We are living in a time where we are exposed to an overwhelming amount of information. From the moment you wake up until the moment you sleep, you are bombarded with information, ideas, ideologies, and worldviews. And if all you do is consume, over time you can end up defending ideas that were never yours to begin with, simply because other people influenced you enough for them to become part of you.
And we all know that a thought can become an idea, an idea can become an action, and actions have consequences and outcomes, especially when it comes to the major decisions and defining moments in our lives.
We can end up making decisions that originate from ideas that were never truly ours, ideas that do not serve our context or the reality we live in.
That is why writing helps, and that is why I have always tried to keep it as a regular practice.
And that is also why I started this blog. Simply to keep reminding myself of the importance of this precious practice. Thoughts usually remain trapped inside notebooks and journals. This time, I wanted my thoughts and reflections to occupy a small place on the internet. It does not matter who reads them, or whether anyone ever reads them at all. What matters is that it gives me a reason to sit down, write, and leave something online forever. Maybe five or ten years from now I will come back and see how I used to think, what changed, and have a clear map of how my ideas evolved over time.
If you are reading this now, or any other post I write here, much respect to you. It means you are not operating with the attention span of an ant, and that you cared enough to read all of this from a random person. Much respect.
And if you ever want to discuss something with me or share one of your own ideas, feel free to send me a message. I enjoy conversations with thoughtful people.
That's pretty much it. No need for an outro hahaha.
With love and peace.
